One two three four, that’s how many fuses my power steering pump had in store!
I hate people at junkyards who do this.

Why would anyone do that? Just to mess with things?

I don't have a candle, but I do have an oxyacetylene torch.

Man, WTF. That goe s way beyond the usual inconsiderate/negligent behavior of doors left wide open and exposing everything to the elements... (one of my pet peeves)

I once bought a rebuilt ps pump for my 1968 Chrysler 300. My old pump was fine, except it had a bad o-ring. I picked up the replacement pump the evening before a Mopar only car show I had entered . I wanted the car to be as perfect as it could possibly be. I drove to a buddy ’s house l ess than a mile from the parts store, trying to beat the setting sun. Working together, we had the pump swap completed in under an hour. While refilling the pump, an incredi ble amount of metal shavings/filings start rising to the surface. I flipped and shouted at my buddy to shut the car down. I had not checked the pump before it was installed, but apparently it was never properly cleaned.
Now, I need it out, and I want the lines and steering box drained too, which created quite a mess. We were thrashing in the dark working with flashlights. My buddy brilliantly decides to pull the new pump apart and take out the o-ring that my old pump needs. We do the same to the other pump and slap it back together. Prob lem solved. Sometimes it’s best to fix the one you have and not buy an unknown potential problem.
A long night cleaning and detailing, and the car looked fantastic.
My car was identical except interior was white and a black vinyl top.

It’s a wonder the kind of work you can put into a car only to realize that you’ve screwed up big time.
As for your car: damn, that’s right up there with the Riviera and GTO as some of my favorite classic American cars. I’m sure yours was absolutely stunning.

It’s one thing to leave doors/hatches wide open because it’s been 90 degrees all week and rain hasn’t been forecast in months.
It’s another thing when it starts pouring buckets.

It was an awesome car. I sold it when I b ought my first house, so we could furnish it. The local Chrysler/Plymouth dealer offered to buy it to use as a raffle car for their 25 th anniversar y. They opened their doors in late 1967, just as the 1968 cars were being deli vered.
Instead, I sold it to a gentlemen who already was collecting Chrysler C- bodies. It was a bonding thing for him and his new step- son. They were both thrilled with it.
